Summary
ALS conducted system integration tests (SIT’s) for multiple dual POD ESP systems. Each SIT consisted of two separate activities in which the ESP was completely assembled.
Description of Work
Assistance / support in the following tasks:
- - ESP assembly
- - Proper equipment handling and make up
- - Procedure development
- - Equipment installation and startup
- - Ongoing support and troubleshooting
Findings and Recommendations
Multiple items of concern were discovered with regards to equipment assembly and practices. ALS provided experienced oversight of these activities and assisted in corrective action items.
Primary effort consisted of project management of the SIT. Many equipment handling issues were discovered an eliminated, which would have presented many problems offshore. Other issues such as clamp placement, and chemical line injection techniques were resolved.
ALS provided field support offshore. In combination with the corrected issues above, this resulted in smooth installations and operations. Challenges were experienced with the VSD during startup, but ALS was able to resolve the issues quickly by helping to set up a temporary VSD and gen set.
ALS also provided remote assistance with regards to ESP start up and troubleshooting. Problems with the VSD were encountered during start up. ALS provided consultation and support to resolve the problems.
Training was provided to field operations as well as supervisory personnel.
The units installed are still operational today.
